Searching for Stress Relief

There's no escaping stress these days. Everyone, from the elementary school student to the CEO of a company and everyone in between suffers some kind of stress on an almost daily basis. Finding ways to provide stress relief is important and vital to our long-term health. For some, finding stress relief in exercise is all they need to get rid of stored up frustrations and toxins that produce harmful effects on the body. Stress can cause an untold number of problems with health if not diffused, but many people shake their head and claim they don't have the time to practice stress relief.

What's ten minutes when it can mean the difference between developing high blood pressure and remaining healthy? What's an hour when it can prevent heart disease or ulcers? What's more important here? Stress relief doesn't have to take a lot of time, but it will take some time. The key is learning how to take a few minutes to relax every day. Even if you don't have the time, money or luxury to get a massage or go to a movie to unwind, you can at least practice some kind of stress relief that will help you not only retain your physical health, but your mental health as well. Stress relief is a valuable tool to those who work in high-pressure careers. Take a few minutes to get up, move around, take some deep breaths and get that blood flowing to every brain cell. If possible, take a brisk walk outside, or at least around your office. Another great way to provide stress relief is to try to relax during your commute to and from work. Listen to your favorite music or a book on tape. Practice deep breathing exercises while you drive. Try to give yourself mini breaks throughout the day to find stress relief in a multitude of ways.

Stress relief comes in many different shapes and forms. At the end of a long day, many people watch a movie, preferably a movie that will make them laugh. Laughing is one of the best ways to provide stress relief and a good belly laugh every day will keep you healthy, caused by the release of chemical hormones and endorphins, all natural products and totally free. Stress relief doesn't have to mean taking hours out of your daily schedule, though many people will spend an hour or two at the gym every day as a very effective stress relief method. Others practice yoga, meditation or deep breathing exercises, all methods of stress relief that can be learned from a book borrowed from your local library.

Aromatherapy is a great stress relief and nice smells and colors offer soothing effects to our bodies. Aromatherapy candles are available everywhere and aren't expensive. Another stress relief method is to change old habits and de-clutter your life or workspace. By far, however, the best methods of stress relief are to talk to someone and to exercise, both of which provide outlets to frustration, anger and disappointments that may ultimately affect health if not addressed. Stress may be a part of our daily lifestyle these days, but so can methods of stress relief.
